Three announcements on cyber deception technology companies in January 2017:
- Illusive Networks, an Israeli deception cybersecurity startup raised funding from Microsoft Ventures, bringing total funding raised by the startup to about $30 million.
- CounterCraft, a European counter-intelligence startup that protects large organisations with a cybersecurity deception platform by fooling their adversaries with decoy computers, false data and fake identities, will participate in GCHQ Cyber Security Accelerator. GCHQ is one of the three UK Intelligence and Security Agencies, along with MI5 and MI6 (Secret Intelligence Service).
- Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) enlists security vendor Galois to develop a cyber deception system.
With a cumulative market valued at $12 billion (2017 – 2022), the deception cybersecurity market will grow steadily at about 19% CAGR, says the market study Decoy (Honeypot) Network Market Forecast.
