JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, the global leader in the development of standards for the microelectronics industry, today announced that it will host in-depth technical workshops focused on its DDR5, LPDDR5 and NVDIMM-P standards in Santa Clara, CA and Hsinchu, Taiwan in October 2019. Industry users are invited to register on the JEDEC website.
Mian Quddus, Chairman of the JEDEC Board of Directors, said: “JEDEC is committed to supporting the industry through ongoing educational outreach on advanced technologies to foster deeper understanding and rapid industry-wide adoption of these essential standards.” He added, “We invite all interested engineers worldwide to register to participate.”
JEDEC is also holding a companion Memory Tutorial class for attendees of the DDR5 Workshop who do not already have an in-depth understanding of memory technology and memory interface design. This session is also available as a standalone class for those seeking an initial introduction to DRAM memory and memory systems.
JEDEC DDR5 memory will offer improved performance with greater power efficiency as compared to previous generation DRAM technologies. As planned, DDR5 will provide double the bandwidth and density over DDR4, along with delivering improved channel efficiency. These enhancements, combined with a more user-friendly interface for server and client platforms, will enable high performance and improved power management in a wide variety of applications.
The JEDEC NVDIMM-P standard will enable the industry to create Persistent Memory solutions optimised for cost, power utilisation and performance. Adding to the existing NVDIMM-N JEDEC standards, NVDIMM-P modules are designed to maximize the benefits of new Persistent Memory media including reduced software overhead, capacity expansion and lowest latency in computing systems.
LPDDR5 is designed to significantly boost memory speed and efficiency for a variety of applications including mobile computing devices such as smartphones, tablets, and ultra-thin notebooks. In addition, LPDDR5 offers new features designed for mission critical applications such as automotive.
