Robin Systems Secures $17 Million Series B Funding

August 22, 2018 By admin Leave a Comment

Debuts Industry’s First Hyper-converged Kubernetes implementation for Big Data, Databases, and AI/ML Applications

Robin Systems, the first company to bring hyper-converged Kubernetes technology to big data, databases and AI/ML, today announced that it has secured $17 million in Series B funding, led by USAA Ventures and joined by previous investors Hasso Plattner Ventures, Clear Ventures and DN Capital, USAA.

Building on its success as the first company to extend containerization benefits to all classes of enterprise applications, Robin Systems plans to use the investment to promote its Hyper-converged Kubernetes platform to further simplify application deployment and lifecycle management for DevOps and IT.

ROBIN, the hyper-converged Kubernetes platform, enables DevOps and IT to be more responsive and agile to business initiatives and address modernization challenges as well as digital transformation. ROBIN enables a self-service app-store experience and brings increased efficiency to clustered and distributed complex big data, databases and AI/ML applications.

“Based on Robin Systems’ forward-looking approach which brings next-gen hyper-converged Kubernetes to the enterprise and their track record of enabling DevOps and IT teams to execute strategies, we are looking forward to the company’s next phase of growth in solving today’s tough data challenges,” said Yair Reem, General Partner at Hasso Plattner Ventures. “We are happy to continue investing in Robin as they enable Enterprises to achieve faster realization of critical IT and business initiatives such as containerization, cloud migration & multi-cloud and this latest innovative release adds another critical layer”

ROBIN is the only purpose-built Kubernetes based solution with the entire application lifecycle management embedded natively into the compute, storage, and network infrastructure stack for any application anywhere (on-premises and on public cloud). ROBIN simplifies deployment and lifecycle management with 1-click functions that shorten DevOps and IT tasks from hours and weeks to minutes. It makes applications truly agnostic of infrastructure choices and enables them to share resources and data with predictable performance, leading to significant cost savings. Users can also quickly deploy big data, databases and AI/ML applications with significant ease, do performance testing, scale resources, and migrate as well as recreate entire application environments across data centers and clouds.

“Our platform is a game-changer for infrastructures that want to simplify application deployment and management – a must for today’s world of AI, IoT and big data,” said Premal Buch, CEO of Robin Systems. “Surprisingly, even with the numerous platforms available for Kubernetes, most require IT and DevOps to undertake lengthy third-party integrations as well as execute tedious, manual, repetitive processes for each on-premise and cloud installation. Our Series B Round validates that Robin is uniquely equipped to make a difference for DevOps and IT, dramatically increasing productivity and reducing costs while improving resource allocation and performance.

About Robin Systems
Robin transforms the way enterprise applications drive the infrastructure by bringing together purpose-built container-aware block storage with application-aware manager into the cloud (private and/or public). This demonstrates unique benefits to distributed, clustered and stateful applications including Big-Data and Databases. With a team that includes industry veterans from leading enterprise technology companies such as NetApp, Oracle, and Veritas, Robin seeks to disrupt the $20 billion-plus virtualization market with its container-based compute and storage platform software that delivers better performance higher consolidation and a much simpler application lifecycle management than traditional hypervisor-based virtualization. Founded in 2013, the San Jose California-based company has raised more than $27 million in venture funding from leading investors such as Clear Ventures, DN Capital, USAA, Hasso Plattner Ventures and CloudScale Capital Partners.
