SG.GS, a global wholesale carrier operating across Asia-Pacific and beyond, has announced the implementation of cutting-edge optical networking solutions from Smartoptics to upgrade its Singapore-based DWDM network. The upgraded system, incorporating the DCP-R-34D ROADM and SoSmart network management software, represents a significant step forward in high-capacity connectivity, scaling from 400G to 800G and beyond. This development aligns with SG.GS’s commitment to delivering robust, flexible, and scalable solutions in response to escalating regional and global data demands.
The enhanced DWDM network leverages advanced flex grid technology, enabling SG.GS to optimize resource allocation while maintaining cost efficiency. As a result, the network not only supports high-capacity metro services but also enhances cloud connectivity and remote IX peering for clients. SG.GS’s Managing Director, Shawn Ang, emphasized that this upgrade is part of a broader strategy to meet growing bandwidth needs and ensure Singapore remains at the forefront of digital infrastructure innovation.
Smartoptics, known for its open networking approach, plays a critical role in facilitating SG.GS’s ambitions. The ROADM and SoSmart controller simplify service activation and network management, allowing for rapid deployment and reliable operation. Paul Joseph, VP Sales at Smartoptics, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, underscoring the cost-effective and future-proof capabilities of their solutions in supporting SG.GS’s expansive network requirements.
SG.GS has established itself as a pivotal player in the Asia-Pacific region with over two decades of experience and a strong presence in 27 global markets. This upgrade underscores their dedication to maintaining competitive service standards while addressing the dynamic needs of enterprises and cloud providers in the region.
