Greenerwave, a deeptech startup specializing in shaping electromagnetic waves, has unveiled its reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) technology at MWC 2023. The RIS technology is a crucial component for the deployment of 5G mmWave networks and is energy-efficient, cost-effective, and compatible with 5G standard equipment. The technology enables real-time reconfiguration of antennas and offers a ten-fold reduction in infrastructure costs, making it ideal for deployment in congested environments. Greenerwave’s beamforming antenna solutions will also be showcased at MWC 2023, which can be used for both conventional 5G network infrastructure and new 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) utilization cases. The company’s technology has already been validated by partnerships with Anritsu, NTT, and AGC. Greenerwave is a spin-off from the Langevin Institute (CNRS, ESPCI) in Paris and has a large range of applications covering RFID detection, RADAR imaging for self-driving vehicles, and antennae for 5G or 6G satellite communication.
