GlobalConnect Group, a digital infrastructure provider, has become the first colocation provider in Europe to offer submerged cooling technology to its customers. The technology reduces power consumption for data center cooling by up to 90% compared to traditional air cooling. Submerged cooling involves submerging servers in a specially developed cooling liquid, which enables the servers to operate at higher temperatures and up to 25% higher efficiency rate without overheating. The technology also requires only one-fifth of the space compared to traditional air-cooling technology. The excess heat from the data center can be used for local district heating operations. GlobalConnect’s submerged cooling technology was installed in its Copenhagen data center and will be rolled out to its remaining data centers based on customer demand.
