CompTIA, a nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce, has analyzed the latest tech employment data and found conflicting signals. Technology sector companies shed 1,600 positions in January, but the tech unemployment rate fell to 1.5% which indicates re-hiring and absorbed laid off workers back into the labor market. Job postings for future tech hiring increased by 22,408 to 268,898, with the highest volumes reported in professional, scientific and technical services, finance and insurance, and manufacturing sectors. Despite the conflicting signals, the low tech unemployment rate and hiring activity confirms the long-term demand for tech talent.
