Apple Announces New iMac with M4 Chip and Apple Intelligence

October 28, 2024 By admin Leave a Comment

Apple has unveiled the latest iMac, equipped with the new M4 chip and Apple Intelligence, enhancing both performance and user experience. The new iMac’s ultra-thin design comes in a variety of vibrant colors, paired with a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display that now offers an optional nano-texture glass to minimize glare. The introduction of the M4 chip boosts the iMac’s capabilities, making it up to 1.7 times faster for productivity and 2.1 times faster for intensive tasks compared to its predecessor with the M1 chip. This makes it ideal for activities like photo editing and gaming. Apple Intelligence, integrated within the M4, offers advanced AI capabilities, redefining how users interact with their Mac while maintaining privacy at the core.

The updated iMac features a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, designed for improved video calls, and includes up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility. A unified memory of 16GB, which is expandable, ensures a seamless experience for multitasking and creative work. Starting at $1,299, the new iMac can be pre-ordered today and will be available from November 8. Apple Intelligence also brings generative AI to the Mac, allowing for advanced writing tools and interactive features like Genmoji and Image Playground, all while prioritizing user privacy through on-device processing and secure cloud services.

The new iMac embodies Apple’s commitment to both innovation and sustainability, using 100% recycled materials for key components and aiming to be carbon neutral across its entire production by 2030. With its powerful M4 chip, AI capabilities, and stunning new design, the latest iMac promises to offer an unmatched user experience, suitable for everyone from families to professionals.

Apple Introduces First Apple Intelligence Features Across iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Apple today launched the initial set of Apple Intelligence features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users via a free software update with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. Apple Intelligence is a personal AI system that leverages the power of Apple silicon to enhance user interactions with language, images, and applications, while prioritizing privacy. These new features include advanced Writing Tools, a redesigned, conversational Siri, and improved Photos app capabilities, enabling users to simplify and speed up daily tasks with generative AI in a way that is secure and privacy-focused.

The systemwide Writing Tools allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text effortlessly across Apple’s ecosystem, from Messages to third-party apps. Siri now features a more flexible, conversational design that understands natural, evolving requests. In the Photos app, Apple Intelligence offers capabilities such as natural language search, advanced cleanup tools, and the ability to create movies based on simple descriptions. These features mark the beginning of what Apple Intelligence aims to offer, with more capabilities, including visual expression tools like Genmoji and expanded AI integration, coming in the next few months.

Apple Intelligence’s privacy measures are at the core of its design, using on-device processing for most operations and a new Private Cloud Compute to enhance privacy when additional computing power is required. Users can choose to use integrated ChatGPT without creating an account, ensuring privacy by obscuring IP addresses and preventing data storage by OpenAI. The new Apple Intelligence features are available today, with more language support and functionality rolling out in future updates, marking a new era in how Apple users interact with their devices.
