Bloom Energy has announced a historic project to deliver 80 MW of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) to South Korea, marking the largest single-site installation of its kind. In collaboration with SK Eternix, the project will power two ecoparks in North Chungcheong Province, providing sustainable energy for critical infrastructure. Set to begin operations in 2025, the project represents a milestone in renewable energy deployment.
The financing, led by Korea Development Bank, is the largest project financing for fuel cells in South Korea’s history. Bloom Energy will supply its advanced SOFCs and oversee equipment management and maintenance. KR Sridhar, CEO of Bloom Energy, highlighted the project as a demonstration of the scalability and reliability of their technology, emphasizing its role in international clean energy solutions. SK Eternix’s CEO, Hae-zoong Kim, underscored the partnership’s success in driving regional sustainability and expanding eco-friendly initiatives.
Building on a partnership that began in 2019, this venture reinforces Bloom Energy’s position as a leader in stationary fuel cell technology, with 1.3 GW deployed globally.
