Northflank, the production workload platform for developers, has raised $22.3 million in fresh funding, consisting of a $16 million Series A led by Bain Capital Ventures and a $6.3 million seed round led by Vertex Ventures US. Additional participants include Kindred Ventures, Tapestry VC, Pebblebed, and Uncorrelated Ventures. The new funding aims to advance Northflank’s mission to become the go-to platform for deploying and operating software.
Northflank addresses a critical pain point in software development: the inefficiency and complexity between writing code and deploying it to the cloud. Traditional options force developers to choose between rigid third-party platforms or investing heavily in custom-built internal platforms. Northflank offers a robust alternative, abstracting Kubernetes into an intuitive, self-service platform that allows developers to seamlessly build, deploy, and scale applications on any cloud. With composable workflows via both UI and Infrastructure as Code, the platform boosts efficiency, reliability, and developer satisfaction.
Leading companies such as Sentry, Writer, and Chai Discovery have embraced Northflank, leveraging its “Bring Your Own Cloud” model to deploy secure, multi-tenant runtimes and streamline their operations. Keith Adams, former Chief Architect at Slack, praised Northflank as a “batteries-included” platform that removes barriers for cloud-native development. Co-founder and CTO of Writer, Waseem Alshikh, highlighted its speed and flexibility, calling it a best-in-class developer experience.
Co-founded by Will Stewart and Frederik Brix, Northflank was born from their hands-on experience with Kubernetes, aiming to simplify workload management for engineering teams. With the support of top-tier investors, Northflank is set to redefine how organizations manage their cloud infrastructure while empowering developers to focus on what they do best: shipping code and building features.
